Sample CV
Looking for a sample CV? Here we have some ideas for you to write a more effective, professional CV.
How long should a CV be?
Two pages as an absolute maximum. We have yet to see a CV that couldn't be whittled down to two A4 sheets, printed on one side only.
I have too many pages in my CV, how can I make it shorter?
Start with your CV in full and mark the best bits, the highlights in red pen. Put a line through the waffle and rewrite it. Use bulletpoints if you are short of space.
How can I make my CV stand out?
Put yourself in the employers shoes. Who will they be most likely to want to interview? Put you achivements down instead of just listing your day-to-day tasks. For example, all Payroll Clerks will enter peoples hours into a computerised system. How can you set yourself apart from the others? Think about accuracy, time pressure and other measures that will give the employer an idea of what makes you special.
Some examples of good & bad cv phrases:
Chef
Good: 'Reduced wastage and improved profitability through careful portion control'
Bad: 'Managed the kitchen of a 40 cover restaurant'
Driver
Good: 'Load & journey planning to ensure deliveries are made at the right time for the customer'
Bad: 'Multi-drop experience'
How do I format the CV ?
The format is where Create Your CV can help. With this online CV creation service, we take all the information you have and put it in a sensible, professsional CV format, that we know employers like. Don't try to be unconventional (unless you are a fashion designer or inventor), stick with what works.
